Hairy Bat is a species of Vesper Bats (largest and best known family of bats) that are endemic to Angola, Namibia and South Africa in the temperate regions and deserts. They have been designated as critically endangered species of bats. They are also found in the equatorial regions from Congo to West Africa. Angolan hairy bat is generally restricted to Northern Cape Province, West Namibia and southwestern Angola.

Upper parts of Angolan Bats have yellowish tinge unlike other hairy bats have light yellow or honey yellow tinge. Underparts are usually off-white or creamish with reddish-brown tinge. Hairy bats feed on insects; however, they are slow fliers and thus they usually hunt within 5 meters from ground. Hairy prefer to live in open woodlands and Savanna habitats. Angolan hairy bats favor arid and desert areas. Some of the species of hairy bats prefer to live in damp caves and also in hollow trees amongst leaves. Traditionally, hairy bats live in small colonies with tendencies to migrate locally.
