Lions have massive shoulders and strong forelimbs, short, powerful jaws and long, sharp claws. A Lions roar can be heard by humans more than 8 km away. As a carnivore, feeding entirely on the flesh of other animals, lions have 30 teeth, including large piercing canines to grab and kill. Lionesses do the bulk of hunting by laying a organized trap for the hunted. A lioness has a gestation period of about 110 days, after which she can gives birth to up to four cubs. Although the population of lions is declining, they are not currently listed as endangered or threatened. Threats include hunting, loss of habitat and human encroachment. The African countries are joining with the rest of the world in the effort of conservation of this mighty creature.

The warthog is a very sturdy mammal with a head that is quite large compared to its body. Protective pads are on both sides of its head with four tusks that are unusual. The upper tusks emerge from the sides of its snout while the lower tusks come from the base of the upper tusks. The whole body of the warthog is covered with bristles.

Warthogs love the moisture and arid lands of the savanna but hate the mountains and the rainforests. They live in groups, often a female warthog together with her young. Male warthogs, on the other hand, go solo, socializing only for mating purposes.
