White Rhinoceros, one of the five species of rhinoceros, is one of the few existing animals from giant fauna species. It is also called as ’square-lipped’ rhinoceros. They are the most social of all the rhinoceros. Out of the two subspecies Southern White Rhinoceros and Northern White Rhinoceros, the population of southern species stands at around 18,000 animals but the population of northern species is just about 13. Critically Endangered Species, Northern White Rhinoceros were formerly abundant inĀ  Eat and Central Africa, south of the Sahara Deserts.

White Rhinoceros is the world’s second largest mammal after elephants. They have a massive body, large head, short neck, broad chest and wide mouth. They weigh in the range of 1.5-3.5 tonnes, highest being 4.5 tonnes. They have two horns made of keratins on their snout, front horn being larger than the other. They have a noticeable hump on their back, which supports their large head. Their color ranges from yellowish brown to slate grey. White Rhino is an herbivorous animal and feeds by grazing grass.
